Maine: The Food

Two weeks ago, the first week of June, Husband and I took an amazing trip up to Maine! We stayed on Mount Desert Island (pronounced like "to desert the Army"), in the north of Maine.  We flew out of Atlanta and landed in Bangor, Maine, which was about an hour west of the island.  We stayed in a small cottage in the small city of Somesville on the island.  The next few posts will be pictures of the trip, but we'll start with the most important aspect of the trip: the food!!!  When asked what he was most excited about leading up to the trip, Timothy consistently said "lobster"!  And lobster he had.

And now, for your enjoyment...the food of Maine trip 2013!

Our first night we ate in Bar Harbor, on Mount Desert Island at Geddy's.
This was spinach, goat cheese, artichoke dip.
Timothy's first (of many) lobster of the trip (at Geddy's)!!
I had a fried Haddock sandwich (at Geddy's)
The second night for dinner we had lobster rolls at the Dog and Pony Tavern in Bar Harbor.
I was not too fond of the lobster, but I gave it a try!
The following morning we got some coffee and a fresh bagel at a local coffee shop!
We did this several other times during the trip.
The third night we got pizza at the Reel Pizza Cinerama in Bar Harbor,
a movie place where you could order pizza while you watched a movie (obviously).
Husband is looking a liiiiiittle creepy in this picture.  Haha!
To let you know your pizza was ready they lit up your order number on a big Bingo sign.
I legit thought they played Bingo in there.
For lunch the next day we went to the Side Street Cafe in Bar Harbor where I met the best macaroni and cheese in the world.  It had ham, black beans, onions, and jalapenos in it.  Soooo delicious!
That night we went to Blaze in Bar Harbor, where Timothy got his next lobster.
I had Halibut tacos.  Very fresh tasting!
On Wednesday we went to Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound for....you guessed it...lobster!  He picked this one out while it was still alive.  I felt so bad for it.
Don't worry though, it got its revenge. (See the cut on the middle of his hand)
I had clam chowder.  It had full clams in it.  Kiiiinda freaked me out.  Oh, and blueberry pie.
(There are a lot of blueberries in Maine)
That day we also discovered Moxie, a local soda.
It tasted like a green gumdrop.  I wasn't a huge fan.
That night we went to Casa Mexican Restaurant in Bar Harbor.
The owner of the cottage we rented owned this restaurant as well and very generously
gave us a credit to use.  It had the best, most authentic Mexican food I have ever had.
Timothy's scallop dish at Casa.  We liked this restaurant so much
that we went back again at the end of the week.
Thursday afternoon we went up to Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada
and ate at a little diner on the island.  Timothy had friend shrimp!
(Are you picking up on the seafood only theme for Husband?)
That night we got pizza at Roalie's Pizza back in Bar Harbor, Maine.
The final day was a day of repeats.  We went back for more mac and cheese and had
Mexican again for dinner (didn't get a pic of that).  Timothy's mac and cheese
had lobsters (surprise!), mushrooms, and bacon.
So there you have it!  The Maine Trip 2013 food!  I think we both gained about 15 pounds that week, but the food was so delicious, and fresh!  In the next few days I'll be sharing some pictures of the bodies of water we encountered in Maine!  Hope ya'll are having a good week!
