Will this be a flower?

It was such a beautiful day outside today!  Every time I've gone outside today I've just wanted to stay.  It made my run this afternoon quite enjoyable.  Not the sweat fest my runs usually are as of late. 
Husband's last tennis match was tonight, so I guess it's back to needing to cook dinner every night. :)  I've enjoyed having a couple of nights off during the week where I can just eat left-overs or cereal and not feel bad for not cooking husband a meal. 
Anyways, in other new, one of my magnolia trees in my front yard has these weird looking spikey things coming out all on the ends of the limbs.  Timothy even noticed them the other day and asked if I knew what they were.  I can't figure out if they're going to be actual blossoms?  Or are they just seed pods?  Or is this how they put out new leaves?  I've never had a magnolia tree and am too lazy to look it up online.  I know I have some smart readers who'll be able to help me out though.  So here's a picture of what they look like.

Terrarium Friends!

Remember when I wrote that post about my girls trip I went on last month?  Oh wait, no.  Because I still have not written it.  Well...I've written the first part.  But somehow I got all caught up on my fear of bridges and kind of stalled.  Maybe I'll just post it in bits and pieces?  Anyways...while on that trip my mom, sister, and I went to one of those cool paint studios and did a little art!  My sister and mom painted some really pretty mugs, but I've always been partial to little tiny things.  I mean, you should see my collection of Polly Pockets and My Littlest Pet Shops.  So I decided to paint some little animals to go in my terrariums.  We had to leave before the stuff we painted was fired, so they had to mail them to us.  I just got mine this past weekend while visiting my parents.  Husband was really impressed when he thought I actually molded the clay into animals myself.  He was a little disappointed when I told him that they were already little shapes and I just painted them.  Haha!  Here they are!

My poor turtle looks like he has a black eye!  :(  My favorite is probably the frog.  I think the mushrooms are full of whimsy though. :)  Just what I was looking for!  Hope everyone had a good weekend!  Be looking for more posts to happen this week, I'm done being a slacker! 

Spring flush!

Well, I was right about my rose bushes.  Turns out the weekends I spent trimming them back during the Winter really paid off.  I promised my grandmother some pictures once they started blooming, and I thought I would share them with you guys too.  Here they are in all their Spring flushing glory! Roses

Remember when I said a couple of weeks ago that I had cut back my 49 rose bushes?  Yes, you read that right...I have 49 red knockout rose bushes.  Well I gave them a pretty good whack, from about 5 foot high, to about 3 foot high.  I thought maybe I had gone a little overboard on them, but within the past 2 weeks, my rose bushes have put out a ton of new growth and now they're just loaded down with buds, just waiting to bust open.  About a week and I think I'll have a yard full of rose blooms.  I'm excited!  Spring is in full swing here in south Georgia!  Here's a sneak peek of one rose that's already decided to bloom.  The others need to follow his lead!

Leap Day!

First of all, happy Leap Day everyone!  I've always thought it would be cool to have been born on that day, 'cause then I wouldn't have to lie about my age when I was older.  I guess being born on Hitler's birthday (also day of the Columbine shooting) is just as good. Um...not? 
But anyways!  Remember in my last post how I mentioned I got some moss to make a little terrarium?  Well, I finally assembled it all!  Here it's!

Preeeetty sure that skinny little one in the front is a weed?  Whatever though, I'll give it a chance. 
I want to get some little bitty animal figurines to put in there too, so that all the plants would look giant.  Like a little tropical scene!  It would be so whimsical! 
Also thought I'd show these guys:

I saw on Pinterest that once you cut off the green stem of a green onion, you can put the white parts in a jar of water, and the green will just continue to grow out.  Just snip off what you need each time.  I cut these off to the white less than a week ago, and this is how far they've already grown back.  I was pretty impressed.  About once a week I change the water and wash the roots off.  Pretty impressed!
